Interested in Board Service? Here’s What You Need to Know.

Board service is one of the most rewarding ways to deepen your EWI experience — and we’d love for you to consider it.

The Positions

The EWI Spokane Board includes both Officers and Directors.

Officers: President, President-Elect, Secretary, Treasurer, and Sergeant-at-Arms.

Directors: Retention & Recruitment, Programs, Marketing & Communications, Fundraising, and Business/Career/Development Program (B/C/DP).

The immediate Past President serves as Board Advisor, offering continuity and guidance to the incoming board.

What’s Involved

Each role carries its own focus, but all board members share a commitment to monthly board meetings, chapter meetings, and the work that happens in between. Officers handle the governance and operations of the chapter — presiding over meetings, managing finances, keeping records, and ensuring members are supported. Directors lead their respective committees, setting direction, coordinating volunteers, and bringing programming, community, and membership initiatives to life.

It’s real work — and it’s also a genuine opportunity to build leadership skills, forge deeper connections within the chapter, and shape the direction of EWI Spokane.

The Support System

No one steps into a board role without a foundation. Outgoing board members walk their successors through their responsibilities, and the Advisor (our immediate Past President) remains available throughout the year. Assistant roles in Treasurer, R&R, and Fundraising are specifically designed to provide a training year before stepping into the full director role — a built-in runway for anyone who wants it.

How to Express Interest

Our straw ballot is currently circulating — this is your chance to indicate which roles interest you. Nominations are due June 29. Reach out to Sarah Brede or any current board member with questions. We’re happy to talk through what any role looks like day to day.
