Summer is finally here, and with it comes sunshine, road trips, barbecues, lake days, and a little bit of that magical slowdown we all secretly crave. This month’s EWI of Spokane meeting is all about Summer Fun and I can’t think of a better theme to embrace as we head into the heart of the season.
Let’s be honest, between deadlines, meetings, and managing the chaos of everyday life, it’s easy to push fun to the bottom of the list. But here’s the thing: those moments with our families and friends, those belly laughs around the firepit, those messy s’mores and sun-soaked afternoons; they refill our cup. And we need that. Not just for our personal joy, but to show up fully and creatively in our professional lives as well!
Taking time to rest, reconnect, and recharge isn’t lazy-it’s leadership. It’s setting boundaries, honoring what matters most, and modeling balance for the people we work with and mentor. This is something I have to tell myself constantly. Sometimes, I listen. Sometimes I fail at that. The world will continue if you take a break. I promise! So whether you’re hitting the lake, hosting a backyard party, or just sneaking in some extra time with your favorite people, do it guilt-free. You’ve earned it.
I can’t wait to hear about your summer adventures at this month’s meeting. Let’s laugh, share, and celebrate the joy that fuels our success. And remember, sunscreen, a cold beverage and a good playlist can solve almost anything.
Stay cool,
Jen Goe
