2024

EWI Spokane proudly offers three programs: EWISP, EWISP II, and ASIST to help qualified applicants achieve their academic goals.

Everyone deserves the opportunity to achieve educational success.

As EWI of Spokane members, we harness that passion through scholarship giving to ensure that all students who graduate high school have the funding they need to pursue their goals and dreams. The investment we make in both traditional and non-traditional students now will support those individuals and their families, far into the future. Did you know that an individual who has a technical, 2- or 4-year degree will have a median wage that can add up to over $1,000,000 over the course of a lifetime compared to those with a high school diploma?

Why is our Scholarship work so important?

Access to funding for tuition and expenses related to education can unnecessarily limit an individual’s dream of attaining a degree.  In our region, 60% of high school students enter a college pathway after graduation from high school. Only 30% of those students go on to receive a postsecondary degree or certificate within 8 years of graduating high school. Reversing this shortfall is critical given that 82% of all high-demand, family sustaining wage jobs in the state of Washington require a postsecondary degree or certificate. Private scholarship dollars, like EWISP and ASIST help to fund the tuition costs, books, and fees associated with college and allow the student to use their federal financial aid funds to offset the total cost of attendance at the college of their choosing.

As we begin the next Scholarship year at EWI we thank you for supporting education for all students in the region. The path to success starts with a community committed to ensuring everyone has access to education beyond high school. Thank you for being that community.

EWI Scholarship Program (EWISP)

Students planning to pursue a degree at an accredited post-secondary institution may apply for an EWI Scholarship award.

In 2023, EWI of Spokane awarded three scholarships to high school juniors in the amounts of $6,000, $3,500, and $2,500 to be applied to college tuition, books or related expenses.

Students must be enrolled full time in a public, private, or parochial school located within the territorial boundaries of EWI of Spokane.  Up to three (3) juniors from each area high school are eligible to apply.

Students who wish to apply should consult with their school counselor. Applications must be submitted to the appropriate school counselor who will determine which applications will be considered by the EWI panel of evaluators.

Applicants must provide four (4) copies of the completed application, which includes:

  • Completed EWISP Application Form (which can be obtained from your school counselor)
  • Autobiographical essay
  • Listing of awards and honors
  • Copy of unofficial transcripts
  • Two letters of recommendation: one from a sponsoring school official and one from a personal contact (other than a school official)

Carefully review the Submission Checklist provided with the EWISP application and verify that you have all your documents (and copies) completed and attached before sending your packet to EWI of Spokane.  No handwritten applications will be considered.  All submissions must be typewritten and printed in black ink.

Application information for the 2024 cycle will be added soon.

Adult Students in Scholastic Transition (ASIST)

EWI assists adult students who are striving to achieve their educational and career goals while effectively overcoming adversity in their lives. Each year EWI of Spokane works with colleges and agencies working with adults in transition in the Spokane area to identify candidates for this scholarship.

Applications for the 2024 ASIST scholarship will be available soon.

A panel of impartial judges will review the applications and select the 2024 scholarship recipients.  Finalists will be invited, as special guests, for the EWI Scholarship Banquet on May 21, 2024 at 5:00 pm at a to-be-determined venue in Spokane WA. Winning applications are automatically submitted for consideration for the EWI corporate award.
