2018 Reading Rally is a Huge Success!

On Wednesday, June 6, EWI representatives, along with Otto from the Spokane Indians surprised 75 third graders at Cooper Elementary, by hosting this year’s Reading Rally. For two hours, EWI shared their passion for reading through fun, interactive activities including mad libs, story cubes and finish the story. Otto also spent his time entertaining the kids and taking lots of pictures with them; plus he raffled off four seats to an upcoming game! As part of the Rally, students were asked to participate in a summer reading challenge which will culminate in September when EWI goes back to see them as 4th graders. Designed to help reduce summer learning loss, this reading challenge included a tracking booklet with incentives hoping to encourage them to read at least two books over the summer.
Bringing the Reading Rally to a close, EWI surprised the kids once again with a goody bag of swag (donated by many of our member firms) as well as two books of their very own to keep!

The Reading Rally was a HUGE success so thank you to everyone who donated to and volunteered at this year’s event!

Keep an eye out for more about our plan to visit Cooper Elementary in the Fall – we’d love for you to join us!
