“With great power comes great responsibility.” EWI Spokane used its superpowers to brighten the day of local kids enrolled in Boys & Girls Clubs of Spokane County’s Summer Power Program. This year the Club’s theme was “superheroes,” so we showed up with 100 superhero themed books, goody bags, and our own special team of Reading Rally Rangers.
Led by the fearless (and highly organized) Bridget Walden, our intrepid volunteers played charades; read stories; listened; distributed ice cream bars; and handed out 100 string bags filled with snacks, school supplies, toothbrushes, bookmarks and other treats; laughed; smiled; and opened their hearts to future generations of superheroes in their own right. The children enjoyed time imagining themselves as a superhero making a difference in the community. A special visit, EWI’s members reminded the kids of just how special and important they are; no matter how big or small.
Thanks so much for all of you who donated and volunteered. You helped make this a very memorable day for a big group of kids.
